Enhancing the e-book

In e-books on December 31, 2010 at 1:11 pm

A reminder of the historically unhappy relationship between writers and illustrators.

Prose writers suddenly faced with the so-called “enhanced” e-book are again obliged to work with illustrators, musicians and video-makers.  If they can’t afford to pay for this help they must either learn to “enhance” their own texts or invent payment sharing options with illustrators. Two articles on the subject: one by Tony Woodlief in the Wall Street Journal the other by Richard Curtis on e-reads.
